I commented in an earlier post how getting pot holders made me happy.
This week I purchased a new trash can for the kitchen... this too made me happy.
I replaced all my pots and pans too not too long ago, did I mention that?
Here I am an older, single man and I’m gassed by getting things for my kitchen. How does that make any sense with the clichéd picture one would have of someone like me.
I’ve always liked cooking. Well, I probably should qualify that. If I didn’t learn how to cook, I likely would have gone hungry.
People who know me would tell you I was something of a knockabout kid. What does that mean?
It means that while I had parents, I was generally left to my own devices. After my parents got divorced... while I lived with my mom she was far too busy just trying to keep a roof over our heads. High cuisine consisted of Chunky Soup and maybe a steak if we were splurging.
I don’t lead an exciting life these days and I’m happy about that.
What I started to write about and where I was going was down the rabbit hole of my shitty childhood. The thing of it is when you’re a kid, you don’t know anything different. It’s only in retrospect when you can compare your experience to others that you have something to judge things by.
All I know right now is that I am incredibly lucky.
I hope you are incredibly lucky too if you are reading this and I hope you have a Merry Christmas as well!
